Society for Industrial Archeology

Southern New England Chapter

As the name suggests, the Southern New England Chapter organizes events and activities concentrated on the lower three New England States: Massachusetts, Connecticut and Rhode Island. Given the significance of such precedent-making industrial efforts as Slater Mill, the Saugus Iron Works, the Lowell textile mills, Connecticut's arms and ammunitions works, Rhode Island's bustling maritime activities and various early enterprises on the Blackstone, Connecticut, Charles and Deerfield Rivers (among others) we have a lot to explore, ponder and celebrate.

We also have a considerable history of our own as one of the most active chapters of the Society for Industrial Archeology. Unfortunately, it hasn't been compiled yet. That's why we're looking for volunteers who can help us reconstruct our progress to date. If you're a member and would like to help, contact the SNEC webmaster.
